Tourism P.E.I. has officially partnered with #1 New York Times bestselling Canadian author Carley Fortune to launch an immersive "literary trail" across the Island. The project features a series of locally handcrafted benches placed at iconic locations showcased in her hit romance novel, This Summer Will Be Different.

The project brings the book's setting to life just as its 10-episode series adaptation begins production for Netflix. Designed by artisan Mel Burke of Black Cat Woodcraft, the story markers serve as intentional spaces for visitors to pause, reflect, and look out at the landscapes that inspired the book.

The first two installations are live at Basin Head Provincial Park and Point Prim Lighthouse. Tourism P.E.I. and Fortune plan to expand the trail into western Prince Edward Island with additional benches over the coming months to encourage travelers to explore new corners of the province.

“I'm so honoured This Summer Will Be Different is now part of the Prince Edward Island landscape thanks to these stunning benches. The Island has been an inspiration to me since I first visited, and I hope these benches give others a place to pause and reflect on their own journey to this magical place.”

-Carley Fortune, Author, This Summer Will Be Different

"I’ve been building my Island love story since the moment I landed. The natural beauty inspires my work, and I’m surrounded by an incredible community that has encouraged me to make this dream my career."

-Mel Burke, Black Cat Woodcraft
